Playing cello in orchestra is one of my favorite ways to make music. I enjoy listening for how my part fits with the other instruments and hearing the sound we create together. In my free time, I like practicing on my own, working through difficult passages and finding small ways to make a piece more expressive.

I like the first movement’s mix of bold, energetic passages and quieter, lyrical moments. It pushes me to think about how I want each phrase to sound, even while I’m working on the technique.

The third movement is exciting to play because of its speed and playful energy. I enjoy the challenge of keeping the fast passages clear while letting the music stay light and lively.
